This year, Portland will receive roughly 1,800 refugees into our city. These are men, women, and children separated from their homeland largely due to war and genocide. Theophilus is a church community that has embraced the task of welcoming our new neighbors into our city. We accomplish this through refugee mentorship, advocacy, and periodic collections of donated goods. We work in partnership with the Refugee Care Collective, Lutheran Community Services, and Catholic Charities.

We are currently building teams of mentors who will walk alongside new refugee families for nine months after their arrival. Please contact Cameron Marvin ( if you’re interested in joining one of these teams.
